My bug was
originally a greenish blue, but was painted a yellowish
green with a layer of larger metallic flakes, I bought it this color.
When I first laid eyes on it, I could see that work needed to be done to
it, but that it had real potential. After having it for 1 week I took it
into a local body shop that had been recommended to me, and had it looked
over. A week and a half later it was in another local body shop having
dents pulled out, fenders being replaced, front
clip replaced, a new hood, natural
ripples evened out and rust damaged fully repaired.
After bodywork
was completed, I had it painted "Starburst Blue Metallic." I also added
numerous personal accessories, such as, Neon Distributor Cap, Tachometer,
Custom Upholstery and Bi-Color Rear light lenses. To see pictures of my
car, before, during and after body & painting look to the right.
Once restoration was relatively complete, I was seen (and still can be seen) cruising around town. The bug is my only car and it gets all the attention.
I ended up needing to replace several things later in the engine (ie, the master cylinder), exterior (ie, the antenna) and interior (ie, the window assembly). The car is an ongoing development; it will never be "done" but is far past restoration.
